A fascinating mountain show
The summit plateau of Plan de Corones in South Tyrol delights visitors with an unparalleled mountain panorama from the Dolomites to the main Alpine ridge. For everyone who’d like to immerse themselves even further in the fascinating mountains, the modern LUMEN museum impressively recounts the history of mountain photography from its origins to the present day, perfectly complementing the stunning views.
Following plans created by Brunico architect Gerhard Mahlknecht, the former mountain station of the Plan de Corones cable car was transformed into an elegant museum building. Across four floors, visitors can experience mountain photography from various perspectives. A highlight is the giant shutter that can be opened and closed. When closed, the shutter becomes a projection screen for films, while open it offers views of the mountain scenery.
The Christmas market in Brunico will be held from November to January under the motto “Christmas in the mountains, between tradition and modernity”. Along Via Bastioni and in Piazza Municipio, 35 Christmas stands will offer South Tyrolean handicrafts and original Christmas decorations: Christmas tree decorations, wooden toys, ceramics, leather articles, as well as typical delicacies that will delight even the most discerning palate.
Nativity scenes and figures, glass baubles, ceramic and leather gift ideas, wooden toys: These are just some of the fantastic products that you can buy here. Stroll through the medieval lanes of the old town and soak up the festive, peaceful atmosphere of the Christmas market in Brunico. Plenty of tempting treats for all ages, Advent and Christmas music with flutes and horns, and numerous events await you.
